300ft Gorilla are a UK based rock band with influences ranging from Prince to Alice in Chains and all points in between.

The release of their well received debut album Gorilla Tactics in 2007 came after the band had been together for over ten years. Unfortunately, their original vocalist decided to leave the band before the album had been officially released. The band continued with their release program, and once completed they started their search for a new vocalist.

Gorilla Tactics co-producer Andrew Watson had just the right singer in mind, and introduced the band to Glasgow based singer Paul "Hutch" Sloway soon after Graham's departure. Hutch's soulful hard edged vocals fitted in perfectly with the band and after recording a demo EP called ES140T the band started gigging the Gorilla Tactics material. By 2009 the band were ready to record an EP of new material and released the Better Life EP later that year.

At the start of 2010 Hutch decided that the distance between himself in Glasgow and the band in Newcastle was too much and reluctantly decided to quit the band. At this point the remaining members decided to put 300ft Gorilla on hold and work on other projects which is where they met Newcastle based singer Ian Humphrey.

By early 2011 it became apparent that with his incredible voice, great melodies and common influences Ian was definitely the singer for the job and he accepted the offer to join 300ft Gorilla. The band are now writing the long awaited follow up to Gorilla Tactics. The new material is now in the demo stages and we hope to release it in the middle of 2012.

300ft Gorilla releases are also available on Itunes, Amazon, CDBaby, and many other outlets.

Better Life Reviews:

Sea of Tranquility - Better Life EP Review - Sept 2009

"By combining elements of King's X, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Living Colour, the UK-based quartet 300ft Gorilla returns with a new EP and a new vocalist.
300ft Gorilla ups the funk factor on these four songs, with "Mr. Raspberry is Dead" and "Stay Awake" coming closest to Living Colour's classic sound, circa Vivid and Time's Up. These guys don't monkey around: You can hear the raw energy that courses through the veins of this 300ft Gorilla, and the band crunches in all the right places. Paul Hindmarsh's frenzied fretwork, in particular, is all over this thing. Better Life is not as diverse as 2007's debut, Gorilla Tactics, but at a mere 17 minutes, it's nowhere near as long. The EP does, however, hint that better things are indeed on the way… "

Gorilla Tactics Reviews:

Kerrang! - Aug 2007

Taking their cues equally from the fat arsed-riffage of grunge, the shimmying alternative rock of Jane's Addiction and the slap happy funk of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Newcastle quintet 300ft Gorilla throw their grab bag of influences into a blender, whir it up then throw the lot at the wall to see what sticks.
They have the ability to mix and match pummelling grooves with easy hooks to impressive effect
